KeraSoft Eyecare Pvt Ltd., a world class contact lens company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Trivandrum based Chaithanya Eye Hospital and Research Institute to launch a specialised clinic for the treatment of Keratoconus, a disorder of the cornea that causes distortion and reduced vision. The MoU was signed by Dr. Vinod Vasudevan, Director, KeraSoft and Group CEO, Flytxt; and Dr. KGR Nair, the Chief Executive of Chaithanya Group.
The initiative is part of KeraSoft's strategy of forging partnerships with leading ophthalmologists and optometrists in the public and private sectors across India. 'KeraSoft is proud to be associated with Chaithanya, a reputed name in the eye care sector in India. This marks a major step forward in achieving our vision of making the world class treatment for Keratoconus available to patients in India,' stated Dr. Vasudevan, announcing the tie up in Trivandrum today.
In India, about one in every 500 people is affected by Keratoconus, an eye condition that severely limits their lives. Dr. KGR Nair, talking about the plans to launch the specialised clinic for Keratoconus in partnership with KeraSoft said, 'With the launch of the Chaithanya KeraSoft Clinic, Keratoconus patients in Kerala will have access to world class treatment facility'. He added that clinic will provide every modern technology for the diagnosis and treatment of this disease, along with offering the internationally reputed range of KeraSoft IC lenses.
Keratoconus Consultant & Optometrist, Lynn White, elaborated on the key benefits of KeraSoft contact lenses, 'KeraSoft IC is a revolutionary lens, manufactured from high water content materials, specifically designed for Keratoconus and the Irregular Cornea.' She added that the lens has a long wearing time of up to 18 hours which revolutionises the lifestyle for Keratoconus patients providing them excellent vision with all-day comfort. This is important because Keratoconus patients cannot achieve normal vision with spectacles, and have to use contact lenses for longer duration.
Suprath Sreerama, the Business Head of KeraSoft Eyecare Pvt. Ltd. was in attendance and said that the KeraSoft IC lens has received an overwhelming response from practitioners across India. KeraSoft is expected to announce more tie-ups in other cities in coming months and is targeting penetration in all major cities across the country by the end of 2010.
